Brain Freeze

My latest OC, Cornflake the Sunglow corn snake. Don't worry, he'll be fine. Eventually.

I have recently become obsessed with the idea of owning a corn snake (I want 2, actually) and a leopard gecko. I have wanted a corn snake subconsciously for about 15 years, but I always knew my mother wouldn't allow it. Now that I've gotten medication and therapy to deal with my abusive childhood, I've become assertive for the first time in my life, and realized it will be MY room and MY money, so it's none of her business if I get a few pet reptiles.
Anyway, this picture popped into my head when I was gently breaking the news to her. She was under the impression you HAD to give snakes live mice, and I told her, for expediency's sake, that you could give them frozen mice.
Cornflake is named after a corn snake my late snake-obsessed brother got for me when I was 12. I was just sooooo overjoyed to have my own corn snake (even though one of them bit my thumb pretty good years earlier), and I had that snake for all of eight hours before he mysteriously died in his tank. My mother said it was the heat, but I always wonder if she found some way to kill him. She's just that kind of person.
I know the pose is all wrong and cobra-esque. I was feeling really down and just trying to draw something silly to cheer myself up, and didn't pay much attention to the overall picture until it was too late to fix. (He was supposed to be draped over a higher branch, but I forgot to include it.)
